He Was Eaten by Owls

He Was Eaten by Owls are a London group working in instrumental jazz, post-minimalism and post-rock, with influences and descriptions that also place them in the areas of math rock, chamber jazz, chamber music and chamber-punk. The ensemble begins as a duo and later expands into an 11-piece line-up.

Releases

In 2014, they release a double B-side teaser EP on Fu Inle Records. Their debut album, Chorus 30 From Blues For The Hitchhiking Dead, follows in March 2016 and appears on Fu Inle Records in the UK, Ozona Records in the USA and Silent Project in Malaysia. On that album, the group uses strings, wind, piano and vibraphone alongside the core instrumental setup.

Style and themes

Their music deals in part with intersectional feminism, class issues and other forms of radical praxis, and the debut album is structured as a work intended to be heard in one sitting.
