Hang The Bastard

Hang The Bastard is a hardcore and sludge metal group from London, active since 2007. It forms in the summer of that year by Chris and Sam, both previously of On The Attack, with the aim of making something new rather than following a fixed style.

Style and formation

The group draws on hardcore, old school rock and doom, and it avoids a single genre framework. Its early line-up includes Lloyd on second guitar, Simon on drums and Sibley on bass guitar. The band experiments with tunings and ideas before recording its first song, Pillage Ya Village, which starts slowly and develops into a hardcore/thrash-style track.

Early activity

After forming, Hang The Bastard plays a number of local shows in the Hillingdon, Uxbridge and Harrow areas before the end of 2007. It begins to attract interest from other bands during this period.
