FLeCK

FLeCK is a Greek dub, jungle and dubstep DJ and producer from Athens. He starts making music in the early 1990s, working first on breakbeat and jungle before moving through dub and hip hop influences. He signs to Dread Recordings and Serial Killaz Recordings.

Releases and recordings

His first official release is the 12-inch single Cryogenics, issued in 1999 on Evil Recordings. In 2009 he releases his debut album Dub Muse. His music then appears on a range of labels including Scotch Bonnet, Six Degrees, ODG, Chopstick Dubplate, Liondub International, Roots, Kartoons, Lion’s Den, Nice Up! and Serial Killaz, and he has more than 50 releases across the following years.

Style and reception

His productions are built around a roots reggae dub feel combined with jungle breaks and heavy bass. His tracks reach DJs including Public Enemy’s DJ Lord, Rusko, Congo Natty, Jumping Jack Frost, Ray Keith, 2BadMice, Altern8 and Nicky Blackmarket. His music also appears on Diplo’s Mad Decent blog and receives radio support from Kool FM, BBC 1Xtra and BBC Asian Network. Some tracks reach number one in the TID and iTunes Top 100 Reggae & DnB charts.

Collaborations and live work

He writes, remixes and collaborates with artists including Zion Train, Mungo’s HiFi, Congo Natty, Chopstick Dubplate, Aries, JSTAR, Soom T, Speng Bond, Numa Crew, DJ Vadim, Nanci Correia, Ancient Astronauts, Chezidek, Blue Hill, Lutan Faya, Demolition Man, Mistafire, Parly B and Ed West. He performs widely across Europe, including in Austria, the UK, Spain, Portugal, the Netherlands, Czech Republic, Italy, Slovenia, Croatia, Poland, Lithuania, Romania and Greece, and has played in more than 75 European cities.

Festivals and awards

He appears at festivals including Outlook, Boomtown, Glastonbury, Seasplash, Overjam, Wee Dub, Incubate, Drop Beats Not Bombs, Vibes, Let It Roll and Legalize Protestival. He is nominated for Best Breakthrough Producer at the Jungle Awards in 2015 and places third in the Best Breakthrough DJ category at the Jungle Awards in London in 2017.
