Evil Masquerade

Evil Masquerade is a Danish power metal group founded in Copenhagen in 2003 by Swedish guitarist Henrik Flyman. Flyman is known for work with Lacrimosa and for former membership of Wuthering Heights, Moahni Moahna and ZooL. The band begins with Flyman alongside drummer Dennis Buhl, bass player Kasper Gram and vocalist Henrik Brockmann, who previously sings with Royal Hunt.

Early albums

The debut album, Welcome to the Show, is released in 2004 and quickly gains international attention, reaching number 8 in Japan. The second album, Theatrical Madness, follows a year later.

After line-up changes, Apollo Papathanasio joins on vocals, alongside bass player Thor Jeppesen, and the band records Third Act. That album leads to wider recognition after it is reissued in the United States in 2007, following its earlier release in Europe and Asia.

Later line-up changes and releases

Fade To Black arrives with only Flyman and Papathanasio carried over from the previous album. The new line-up includes drummer Daniel Flores, whose other work includes The Murder of My Sweet, Mind’s Eye, Tears of Anger and ZooL, and bassist Johan Niemann, known for Therion, Evergrey, Hubi Meisel, Demonoid and Mind’s Eye.

Flyman spends 2010 writing material for the fifth studio album, Pentagram, which is recorded in 2011 and released in 2012. For that album the band again works with Papathanasio, Buhl and Jeppesen, and also adds Artur Meinild as its first permanent keyboard player.

Personnel

At different points in its history, Evil Masquerade includes vocalists Henrik Brockmann and Apollo Papathanasio. The group remains active from 2003 to the present and is associated with power metal.
