Elemental
Elemental is a Croatian hip-hop group founded in 1998. It begins as a three-MC project and later develops into a band with two MCs, Shot and Remi, alongside five instrumentalists: Erol Zejnilović on guitar, Ivan Vodopijec on drums, Konrad Lovrenčić on bass, Davor Zanoški on keyboards and Natasha Tonkovic on backing vocals.
Releases and style
The group releases its debut album, Moj, NJegov i Njen Svijet (also listed as My, His and Her World), in 2000 on the Zagreb indie label KondorComm. After that record, the band forms a full live line-up and often performs without a DJ. Its second album, Tempo velegrada (also listed as Demiurg), follows in 2002 and includes collaborations with Croatian acts including Tram11, One II Many, Bizzo of Bolesna Braća and Špica.
The third album, released in 2004, is Male Stvari (also listed as Little Things). It is described as the first Croatian sample-free hip-hop album and brings the group to a wider audience. Six singles come from it: “Napokon”, “Romantika”, “Tako Lijepa”, “Sama”, “Iz Dana U Dan” and “Male Stvari”.
The fourth album, Pod pritiskom (also listed as Under pressure), appears in 2008. Its first single, “Zašto te imam”, is banned by many radio and television stations because of its explicit, politically inspired content, but gains attention on YouTube. The group later releases its fifth album, Vertigo.
Activity and presence
Elemental tours across the Balkans and also films a video for “Pod Pritiskom”. An official site and a blog are associated with the group.
