Doll And The Kicks

Doll And The Kicks are an unsigned indie rock, indie pop and dance-punk band from Brighton. The group forms in late 2005 and begins as a five-piece, playing smaller venues in Brighton and elsewhere in the UK while building a following.

Line-up

The band is fronted by Liverpool-born singer Doll and backed by Olivier, Matt and Chris. After several bass player changes, the group continues as a four-piece in mid-2007, with Olivier moving from rhythm guitar to bass.

Early exposure and festival appearance

The band gains local radio play on Brighton stations Juice FM and BBC Southern Counties. DJ Phil Jackson from BBC Southern Counties submits the group for a BBC Radio 1 competition to play Glastonbury, which they win. In June 2007 they appear on the BBC Introducing stage at Glastonbury.

Recordings and releases

In November 2007 the band records its debut single at Home Studios with Nellee Hooper. The single, Roll Up The Red Carpet, is released in early 2008. The group records its debut album, Doll and the Kicks, in December 2008 and releases it in 2009.

Other activity

In November 2008 Morrissey personally asks the band to support him on his 2009 European Tour of Refusal.

Later history

The band disbands on 25 October 2011.
