Diversion Tactics

Diversion Tactics are a UK hip-hop group made up of The Chubby Alcoholic and Doctor Zygote. The act is based in the United Kingdom and is active from 2000 onwards. It is also known as Leaders of the True School.

Formation and core members

The group works with former ITF champion DJ Jazz T, who DJs and produces beats with Zygote at Boot Studios. The line-up is associated with The Chubby Alcoholic and Squeaky, who contribute lyrics. Over time, the project extends into alter-ego releases, solo albums, guest verses and collaborations.

Releases

Diversion Tactics release their first album, Pubs, Drunks and Hip Hop, in 2002. Their second album, Careful On The Way Up, follows in 2010 on the Boot record label. The album includes production from Boot, The Last Skeptik, Beyond There and J-Zone, alongside guest appearances from HD Gritty, English, Freestyle, Tim Dog, Percee P and Blade.

The Boot remix of Percekusion appears on 7-inch in 2008, and the group also issues No Collaborations on the HHC July 2008 cover CD as a preview of the later album.

Associated work and appearances

Related videos circulate for tracks including Ladies Man, Shaolin Iron Claw remix, Robot Boy and Deadlock, appearing on Google, YouTube, MTV and Channel U. The group’s wider network includes solo and side projects, as well as collaborations with other MCs and producers.

After the critical response to Zygote’s Beats To Make You Frown, DJ Jazz T is due to release the solo album All City Kings, featuring Tim Dog, Kashmere, Yeshua da Poed and Louie G among others.
