Death Of An Artist, also known as DOAA, starts writing melodic and post-hardcore music in April 2009. The band’s sound develops from a fully melodic post-hardcore style into a heavier, more epic approach after a bass player joins in August 2009 and a screamer joins in January 2010.

The group draws on influences including Underoath, Saosin, Emarosa, Thrice and Alexisonfire, and combines melodic material with heavier breakdowns and vocals. After recording two tracks at Outhouse Studios in Reading in February 2010, the band shares stages with Hopes Die Last, Hand to Hand, Lower Than Atlantis, Deaf Havana, Cue to Eclipse, Proceed, Dividing the Line and Tasters Choice.
