Dave Thompson

Dave Thompson is a Canadian guitarist associated with blues and blues rock. He starts playing guitar at the age of nine, after his father buys him an instrument and teaches him how to play. By the age of 15, he joins the blues band Booba Barnes and the Playboys, which later changes its name to the FM Stereo Band after Barnes leaves.

He is also a singer, but his guitar work is the main focus of descriptions of his music. He is noted for a playing style built around strong bends and melodic phrasing. His early career is shaped by club-circuit work, and his life on that circuit includes surviving two car crashes, a gunshot wound to the thigh, and brushes with the law.
