Daryl Johns grew up in a household filled with jazz, where he not only learned to play the upright bass but also developed a deep appreciation for the genre. While attending college in New York, he began to explore other musical styles, spurred by a hand injury that limited his ability to play the upright bass. His sound today can be described as "American Bubblegum Country Jazz Fusion" — or, as he puts it, "sugar-powered anthems for the everyman." Johns has collaborated with a wide range of artists, including Drugdealer, Pat Metheny, Sam Wilkes, Onyx Collective, the Lemon Twigs, and more. Johns' debut album, *Daryl Johns*, will be released on Mac's Record Label on November 22, 2024.
