Courtney Marie Andrews

Courtney Marie Andrews is a US singer-songwriter from Phoenix, Arizona. Her work sits within alternative country, americana, country and folk, and her style also draws on indie pop. She begins writing her own lyrics in her early teens and starts touring at 16.

Early career

Andrews moves to New York City and works as a backing singer and session guitarist for other artists, including Damien Jurado and Jimmy Eat World. From 2010 to 2011, she is an auxiliary member of Jimmy Eat World, appearing on their 2010 album Invented and later serving as keyboardist and backing vocalist on tour.

Albums and recognition

Her first widely distributed and breakthrough album is Honest Life, released in 2016 through Mama Bird Recording Co. and Loose Music in Europe. She writes much of the album while in Belgium and completes it after returning home, while bartending outside Seattle. The record receives broad critical praise. Andrews signs with Fat Possum in 2017.

Her second full-length album, May Your Kindness Remain, follows in 2018. Recorded in Los Angeles with producer Mark Howard, it focuses on empathy within the sociopolitical climate of the time and features soulful vocals. In June 2018, Rolling Stone names it one of the 25 best country and American albums of the year, and The Guardian includes it in its 25 best albums of 2018 list in the UK.
