Charlie Floyd's debut album on Capital Records kicks off with the distant wail of a southbound train ready to take you on aride you will never forget. Charlie Floyd is a seasoned performer, a proven crowd pleaser and a regional legend in the Carolina's. Charlie grew up in Aynor, South Carloina, the son of a bluegrass and country music loving farmer. Charlie was an accomplished guitarist by the age of ten. Throughout high school, Charlie earned money entertaining crowds waiting in lines at local restaurants. Following graduation and a move to California he formed his own band and traveled the state playing festivals and county fairs. Maybe it was the roar of a southbound train, or the intense love of his southern roots but ultimately Charlie headed home. He moved home and hit the local circuit in 1988. After a time playing at clubs and venues, Charlie decided to open his own club, aptly called Charlie's Nitelife. At the age of twenty-one, his club started thriving and soon people from all over the state and southeast were waiting in line to get into Charlie's Nitelife to check out his show. In 1993 Charlie was discovered by a Nashville producer and signed a major record contract with Capital Records shortly thereafter. Charlie's ace in the hole is himself. He draws in crowds with his up beat high energy show. His onstage personality is far different from the unassuming man you meet off stage. He just happens to turn into an exceptional performer when he hits the stage. "Seeing people have a good time and enjoying themselves really gets my adrenaline pumping" Charlie has said. Without a doubt, Charlie pleases his audiences of all ages. He has fans from college kids to seniors. He gets people dancing on tables all the way out into the parking lot. In 1999, Charlie sold his club and moved on to a new entertainment venture. He opened the Daytona Opry in Daytona Beach, Florida. This also became a booming reality, the Opry was a 600 seat theater featuring Charlie Floyd and a hand picked cast of world class musicians. Charlie owned and operated the Opry for 3 years. In 2002 he sold the Opry and moved home to Murrells Inlet, South Carolina. Since then he has been entertaining audiences all over the southeast. He has performed at Myrtle Beach's premier country nightclub the Beachwagon with his band The Southern Express opening for acts such as Charlie Daniels, Craig Morgan, Billy Currington, Dierks Bentley, Hot Apple Pie, Montgomery Gentry, Tracy Byrd, Trace Adkins, and many, many more. this layout is from whateverlife.com!
