Carcass

Carcass is a death metal band from Liverpool, England, formed in 1985 and active to the present. The group is associated with death metal, grindcore, goregrind, melodic death metal, death ’n’ roll, and metal, and is described as a British grindcore and technical death metal act. Its membership has changed several times, with guitarist Bill Steer and bassist-vocalist Jeff Walker the only constant members. Other members include Sanjiv, Ken Owen, Michael Amott, Carlo Regadas, Daniel Wilding, Ben Ash, and Tom Draper.

The band disbands in 1996 and returns in 2007, with Ken Owen absent from the reunion because of health reasons. Carcass releases seven studio albums, two compilation albums, four EPs, two demo albums, one video album, and six music videos. Its studio albums are Reek of Putrefaction, Symphonies of Sickness, Necroticism - Descanting the Insalubrious, Heartwork, Swansong, Surgical Steel, and Torn Arteries.

Carcass is among the few death metal bands to sign to a major label. Heartwork is distributed in North America by Columbia Records, while Earache distributes it worldwide and handles the band’s releases up to and including Swansong. The band releases on Nuclear Blast.
