Buster James Band is a British hard rock group from Norwich, formed in the late 1970s. The band plays blues and boogie with an energetic live approach and performs across the UK and Europe. It has built a loyal following through regular touring and appearances at pub venues, clubs and larger open-air shows.

Line-up and background

The group’s members include Roger James on vocals, Paul Hale on percussion, Chris Warnes on bass, Mark Holmes on guitar, and Richard Young on keyboards, guitar and harmonica. The line-up includes players who have performed and recorded with Steve Marriott, Dire Straits, Dave Stewart, Mungo Jerry, FM and Iron Maiden.

Recordings and repertoire

The band has six available CDs, made up mainly of self-written material. Its setlists also include versions of songs such as Fleetwood Mac’s “Oh Well” and Neil Young’s “Rocking in the Free World”.

Reception

Over the years, the group receives favourable reviews and support from other musicians. Its live reputation rests on Roger James’s vocal delivery and the rhythm section of Hale and Warnes, alongside Holmes’s guitar work and Young’s multi-instrumental role.
