BombayMami (born Shanta Azalea Venkatesh) is a Swiss-Indian artist, singer, songwriter, and creative director whose work fuses Indian classical traditions with contemporary R&B, hip-hop, and pop. Raised between Bern and Varanasi, she embodies a dialogue between two worlds, weaving together tabla rhythms, sitar textures, and soulful beats into a unique sonic identity. Formerly known as Ta’Shan, she re-emerged as BombayMami to embrace her multicultural roots and artistic evolution. Her recent single Fire in Delhi—in which she snowboards down the Swiss Alps in a traditional lehenga—visually encapsulates her hybrid vision of culture, femininity, and empowerment. Through her music and style, BombayMami redefines what it means to belong, celebrating multiplicity, transformation, and self-expression across borders.
