Blasterjaxx

Blasterjaxx is a Dutch electronic music duo from Den Haag, Netherlands, made up of Thom Jongkind and Idir Makhlaf. The act starts in 2010 and works in big room house, EDM, electro house, electronic and house.

Formation and lineup

The project begins when Thom Jongkind, previously known as Scalix, starts Blasterjaxx with another producer in mid-2010. After that collaboration ends, Jongkind continues under the Blasterjaxx name and later forms the duo with Idir Makhlaf, who had been using the name Macosta. Their partnership develops through a few collaborations before becoming the permanent line-up.

Sound and releases

Their music is described as a crossover of electro house, big room and Latin influences. Early releases gain attention on production-focused charts and on dance music platforms, and their tracks appear on labels including Defected Records, Universal, Dirty Dutch and G-Rex. They also receive support from artists such as Sidney Samson, Gregor Salto, Franky Rizardo and Vato Gonzalez.

In 2011, Blasterjaxx releases an unofficial remix of the hit Hello, which is widely shared. In 2012, the duo works with D-Rashid on the Reborn EP, containing Reborn and Where We Go. Laidback Luke signs the tracks to Mixmash Records, and the release performs strongly on Beatport, with Where We Go and Reborn entering the Electro Charts Top 100 and the EP reaching number one in the Beatport Top 100 Releases.

Recognition

The duo's work attracts support from major dance names including Tiësto, Laidback Luke, Diplo, Steve Aoki, Dada Life and Robbie Rivera. Their tracks also gain listings on music platforms in 2010, helping establish their profile in the Dutch and international dance scene.
