Blackstorm

Blackstorm is a US melodic black metal group from Phoenix, active from 1998 to 2001. The band forms one of several acts using the same name, but this Phoenix line-up is the melodic black metal project associated with the releases Black Circle Crusades and As Black as Thy Candles Burn.

Style and releases

The group plays melodic black metal and also appears under broader genre tags including power metal, sludge, speed metal and sludge doom metal. Its recorded work includes the album Black Circle Crusades and the EP As Black as Thy Candles Burn, both issued during the band’s active period.

Line-up

The Phoenix line-up includes J. Animal Diamond on vocals, Michael Wright on lead guitar, John Hayden on bass, Ian Wright on drums and percussion, Victor Morell on keyboards, and D. Lynn McWilliams on female vocals. John Hayden is also linked with Wrath of Wolves, while Victor Morell is associated with Born of Fire, Psychic Pawn and Season of Pain.
