Benjamin Damage

Benjamin Damage is a techno and tech house artist. He emerges from the UK electronic underground with a sound shaped by bassline, niche and UK funky influences, and is associated with the development of what is described as the “deep rave” style.

Early releases and stylistic development

His early profile grows from the Maximum Carnage mixtapes made with DJ Venom, which mix bassline and niche rhythms with the then-emerging UK funky sound. He then releases Deeper on Doc Daneeka’s Ten Thousand Yen label, a record that marks an early point in the deep rave approach.

After that comes the four-track solo EP Antidote, which features haunting melodies, intricate rhythms and heavy bass. The release receives support from Jackmaster, Sinden and Seb Chew, and is played on Rinse FM and BBC Radio 1.

Work with Doc Daneeka and 50 Weapons

Creeper, his first collaboration with Doc Daneeka, pushes the deep rave sound further. It is sent to Modeselektor, played to a San Francisco audience around the turn of 2011, and is then signed to their 50 Weapons label. This leads to an invitation to perform on the Modeselektion tour, including a set at Melt! Festival on the Modeselektor stage.
