Releases

Syson self-releases her debut album, H.O.L.L.A.N.D — an acronym for Hope Our Love Lasts And Never Dies — in May 2008. The album is inspired by her grandfather’s letters to her grandmother. She later prepares an EP titled Weave Your Dreams for release on Nottingham label Arboretum Records.

Live work and appearances

She performs at festivals and live sessions including The Gate To Southwell Folk Festival, Summer Sundae Festival, Burnham-on-Sea FolkFest, The Riverside Festival, and Live in the Lounge for BBC Radio Nottingham at the Royal Concert Hall. She also supports artists including Phil Campbell, Martha Tilston, Amy Studt, Brian Houston, and Bram Taylor.

Style and reception

Syson’s music is described as folk rock with acoustic and traditional folk elements, and her songs are noted for their emotional themes, harmonies, guitar work, and expressive vocals. Commentary on her work highlights her range, power, and sensitivity, and places her music between folk rock and more dramatic territory.
