Anja Schneider is a DJ, producer, broadcaster and label founder from Bergisch Gladbach, Germany. She works in minimal techno, tech house and techno, and is associated with the Mobilee label.

Career in radio and DJing

Schneider starts her career as a producer for KissFM before becoming a radio presenter in 2000 at Fritz Radio. Her programme Dance Under the Blue Moon airs on an ongoing basis and helps spread Berlin’s club sound to a wider audience. That radio work also leads into her later career as a club DJ.

mobilee records

In 2005, Schneider co-founds mobilee records with Ralf Kollmann. The label becomes a key part of her work, with an early focus on new artists. Among the acts identified through the label are Sebo K and Pan-Pot, and Schneider’s own mobilee debut comes with Sebo on Rancho Relaxo. She also helps develop mobilee’s sister label, Leena Music. The mobilee roster includes Sebo K, Pan-Pot, GummiHz, Marcin Czubala, Exercise One, And.id, Miss Jools, Ray Okpara and Dan Curtin.

Production and collaborations

Schneider begins producing in 2004 and goes on to work with Paul Brtschitsch, Marco Resmann, Kiki and Lee van Dowski, in addition to solo releases. Her remix credits include work for Dessous, Crosstown Rebels and Diynamic.

Albums and notable tracks

Her debut album, Beyond the Valley, appears in 2008. Tracks including “Belize” and “Safari” gain wide support on charts and dancefloors. She is also said to be working towards a second album.

DJ career and residencies

Schneider performs at clubs and festivals internationally, including Fabric, Fuse, Rex and Goa Madrid. She holds residencies at Weekend and Watergate in Berlin.

Label development

As label head, Schneider focuses on finding new talent and helping artists develop as DJs and musicians. Under her guidance, mobilee grows into one of Berlin’s notable electronic music labels and reaches its 100th release.
