Amira Kheir is a Sudanese vocalist and singer-songwriter from Sudan who works in jazz and vocal jazz, and describes her style as “Sudani Jazz”. Her music draws on traditional Sudanese chants, vocal styles and rhythmic patterns, and she sings in English, Arabic and Italian.

She performs original material as well as reinterpretations of older spirituals and jazz standards. Her work combines Sudanese musical traditions with jazz, giving her a distinctive cross-cultural sound.

Amira Kheir appears as part of Arun Ghosh’s Magical Musical Merry-Go-Round Part II: Vocal Chord at the London Jazz Festival in association with BBC Radio 3.
