Katy Perry The Prismatic Tour

Katy Perry Stage

Global Phenomenon Katy Perry is a household name that you are certain to find within most people’s CD collection. This is with thanks to the female stars prized individuality in all of appearance, attitude and of course music, that separate her from existing vocalists in today's best-selling charts.

The singer, song-writer and guitarist always does one better and after her previous sold-out tour that made a stop at London’s O2 Arena in 2012, is back with four nights at the venue, as part of the UK leg of her The Prismatic World Tour.

Support act and popular radio-aired duo Icona Pop started the night off with some pure girl power. Miss Perry is also a pro at this and when the show begins a thrilling party-rave entrance involving Katy surfacing from a colossal prism righteously confirms it. Fashioning a gleaming two-piece with glow-in-the-dark functions and a trendy hairdo that even pharaoh, Cleopatra herself would approve of, the soloist erupted into her triumphant hit 'Roar'.

Fans who are known as 'KatyCats' were in awe of the mesmerising opening and with 'Part Of Me' as her second anthem, an army of dancers, backing musicians and a transformed stage set that resembled the historic Ancient Egypt era, this feeling never went away for them.

Furthermore ever so feisty tracks 'I Kissed A Girl' and a Motown styled 'Hot N' Cold', where the scenery was adorably switched into a 'Cat-Oure' setting, soon followed. A cover version of Madonna’s ‘Vogue’, feline costumes and life-size objects of a kittens milk container and a ball of string also featured in this animal episode.

Slowing things down for a swift moment was a moving delivery of 'By The Grace Of God’ where the USA-born female described London “as one of the best, cultural, historic cities in the world”. A talkative Katy also revealed that she has a hobby for gardening and also took a break to have a slice of pizza and a sip of beer – before handing the rest of the drink on to a man in the front row to finish.

Utilising a trapeze and a giant diamond for some ceiling-swinging action, separately sitting on a golden horse sculpture and an appearance from an inflatable taco, car, plus more, were just some of the many flabbergasting highlights to the two hour set.

Past hit 'Teenage Dream', UK number 1 'California Gurls' and newest single 'Birthday' jointly pleased the packed crowd filled of all ages and both genders. A male fan from the audience was in for a surprise due to his upcoming change of age when he was brought up on stage to be serenaded by Katy, before she clutched on to a bunch of balloons and literally took flying lessons around the arena.

Deserved-for praises were in order for the team behind the creation of this tour, including the stylist of whom invented the assemblage of majestic outfits that K-Pez donned.

A glistening ending performance of fan-favourite 'Firework' and a just as animated dress concluded the glorious evening to a curtain close.

Katy Perry is an empowering recording artist with a string of hits to her name that never fails to entertain, and after witnessing this viewing, I can happily confirm this as being 100% precise.
